The Winter family began luxury Boat Charters in the mid 1980's with 60ft Manu Moana, designed by Kiwi design legend Bob Salthouse. Pacific Mermaid, also a Salthouse design followed in 1996 and was built by the family's own yard, Winter Yachts.
Pacific Mermaid has been host to many visiting Prime Ministers, Royal Families, international and local celebrities and sports teams.
Following on from winter excursions to Fiji and Queensland, Pacific Mermaid embarked on a 3 year world voyage in 2006 taking in Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and Florida before returning home to Auckland in 2009.
Other Winter family boat building activities included the 86ft Powercat Pacific Harmony which operated alongside Pacific Mermaid at the 2003 America's Cup before being motored to Florida and on-sold there. From these beginnings the company Adventure Bay Motoryachts was created in 2005 to operate the boat-building business.
For private or charter use, the Activa range of 33-86ft motoryachts and Adventure Bay Powercat range of 46-86ft Multihulls are the principle new-build models available from Adventure Bay today.
